Check of a condition and replacement of hoses and tubes in an impellent compartment, localisation of leaks

Replacement of hoses of a central air of air (К/В) should be made on HUNDRED or in a specialised workshop where there is an equipment for safe dump of pressure in this system. Never disconnect hoses of system K/V and do not remove its components, preliminary without having dumped pressure.

The general information

Influence of heats in an impellent compartment leads to gradual failure of the rubber and plastic hoses used in various systems. It is necessary to make regularly check of hoses on presence of cracks, easings of fastening of collars, hardening of materials and signs of leaks.

The information concerning hoses of system of cooling, is resulted more low, and in hoses of brake system - in Section Check of brake system.

The majority of hoses (but not all) fasten by means of collars. There, where collars are used, check up reliability of their fastening providing absence of leaks. If collars are not used, make sure that the hose in a junction with the union was not inflated and-or has not hardened, supposing leaks.

If there are signs of leak of any liquid, but the type or a liquid origin do not manage to be distinguished, it is necessary to leave the car for long time and to put the big piece of a paper or a rag under the car. It will help to find a place of course of a liquid, and also to identify it on colour. But keep in mind that some leaks can be shown only at the working engine.

Vacuum hoses

Usually vacuum hoses especially applied in system of decrease of toxicity of fulfilled gases, have colour marks or inserts from colour strips. Various systems demand use of hoses with various thickness of walls, thermal stability and various resistance схлопыванию. At replacement of hoses watch that the material of a new hose corresponded to a material of the old.

Often unique authentic way of check of a condition of a hose is its full removal from the car. At removal more than one hose mark hoses and unions to provide correct assemblage.

At check of vacuum hoses do not forget to check up T-shaped plastic connections also. Examine them on presence of cracks which can cause leaks.

Leak in a vacuum hose means that air is sucked in in a hose (instead of leaves a hose), and it does leak very difficult for detection. For revealing of leaks of vacuum it is possible to take advantage of a small piece of a vacuum hose as a stethoscope. When the hose end will be directly over the leak place, the hissing sound will be clearly audible through a hose. Hear to all vacuum hoses and connections on presence of the characteristic hissing testifying to leak.

Using a similar stethoscope, be cautious, do not suppose contact to moving components in an impellent compartment, such as приводной a belt, the fan of system of cooling, etc.

Fuel hoses

At survey or service of components of fuel system it is necessary to observe certain safety measures. All works make in well aired premise, do not suppose approach of open fire (for example, the lighted cigarettes) or the lamps not protected by a lamp shade to a work place. The spilt fuel immediately collect rags which put then in a place where its ignition is impossible. At fuel hit on a skin immediately wash off its plentiful quantity of water with soap. At work with fuel system it is necessary to use goggles and always to have near at hand the fire extinguisher.

Fuel hoses usually are under pressure, therefore at their detachment be ready to gathering of sprayed fuel.

On the cars equipped with system of injection of fuel before to serve fuel hoses, it is necessary to dump pressure in system (see the Head of the Power supply system and release of the fulfilled gases).

Check up all rubber fuel hoses on presence of signs of deterioration and attritions. Pay special attention on sites of a bend and in front of unions, for example, a junction of a hose with the fuel pump or the filter, cracks there can be formed.

Use only high-quality fuel hoses. Never, under no circumstances do not use as fuel not reinforced vacuum hoses, transparent plastic tubes or water hoses.

For fastening of fuel hoses collars of tape type are usually used. These collars weaken in due course a tension and can "jump out" at removal. At replacement of hoses replace such collars with collars of screw type.

Fuel leaks precisely to define difficultly while leak does not become essential and, hence, easily visible. Fuel tends to evaporate quickly as soon as it contacts with air, especially in a hot impellent compartment. Small drops can disappear before it will be possible to define a leak place. About suspicion of presence of leak of fuel in the field of an impellent compartment cool the engine and start it, while it cold, at an open cowl. Metal subjects are compressed at cooling, and rubber hoses will tend to weaken, so any leaks will be more obvious, while the engine heats up at start from a cold condition.

Metal lines

Between the fuel pump and system of injection of fuel sections of metal tubes which should be checked carefully on presence of dents, twisting or cracks are established.

If it is necessary to replace section of a metal line, use only seamless steel tubes, since copper and aluminium tubes are insufficiently strong to resist to the vibrations caused by work of the engine.

Check metal brake lines in places of their connection with ГТЦ, a regulator pressure/activator ABS on presence of cracks or weakened choke connections. Any signs of leak of a brake liquid demand immediate careful survey of all brake system.

Hoses of the hydraulic booster of a steering

Check up system GUR hoses on presence of signs of leak of the liquid, weakened choke connections and the worn out collars. It is necessary to replace proceeding hoses and the worn out collars.

Hoses of system of cooling

Leaks in cooling system are usually found out on white or colours of a rust to a touch in the area adjoining leak.

Carefully check up a radiator and hoses of a cooling liquid on all length. Replace hoses with cracks, ruptures and ageing signs. Cracks are easier for finding out if to press a hose. Will pay special attention on collars which attach hoses to elements of system of cooling. Collars of fastening of a hose which have been strongly tightened, can cause rupture or a hose puncture, leaks in cooling system will be result of that. Examine all hoses and surfaces of connection of hoses about leaks. If any problems of similar character with leaks replace this component or a lining are found out.
